The New Counter

Well I promised photos of the new blue counter and here they are. The colour was inspired by Nigella Lawson's blue homewares brand and I covered the back of the counter in a gorgeous paper (as it was a bit unsightly from behind).

The paint is Dulux 'Tenzig' (quarter strength).

More thanks to Little Bubble and Tree and Style Melbourne for your kind words regarding the Armadale opening.

The Blues

I've just finished painting an old buffet I had at home a gorgeous duck egg blue, inspired in part by these images above and Nigella's homewares range from the early 2000s. The buffet is going to become the new counter in the Woodend store while our antique glass counter has gone to Armadale. I'll post photos of the before and after tomorrow. x

Swap Cards

My favourite thing in the world when I was eight years old was my collection of swap cards. At the end of each week I was given my pocket money and after school I would walk to the local milk bar where I would pick out, with great deliberation, new cards.
On the eve of opening the shop last year I came across my swap cards at home, packed away in a box for the last 28 years. I was thinking about what to do with them and I thought of sticking them onto a canvas to hang in our kid's section in the Enchanted Closet.
I had no idea how popular my pretty old swap cards would be. We've had customers try to buy the canvas and many people come back and tell us they have done the same thing for their little girl's room. But the best thing about the swap card canvas is the response we get from women of all ages. You can hear them as they walk in to our kid's section and gasp in amazement, most saying "I remember these, I wonder what happened to mine". And then they proceed to pick out their favourites when they were kids. So let me know, did you collect swap cards too?

Painting the Enchanted Closet

Over the last few days we have been painting the shop floor and a few feature walls to add a bit of warmth and to lift the space. We're pretty happy with how it's turned out. It looks so bright and cheery but still very cosy, which is essential coming into the winter months.

N.B. We used Dulux Clay Pipe Full Strength

Autumn in the Enchanted Closet and the Macedon Ranges

We just finished our autumn tree in the shop which looks very cute. The clothing you can see hanging from the tree are part of the new Snoffs kid's range that arrived in last week. I've also included in this post a few Autumn pictures taken in Woodend and Macedon where our shop is located. As you can see, it's a pretty spectacular time of year here.
