The Blues

I've just finished painting an old buffet I had at home a gorgeous duck egg blue, inspired in part by these images above and Nigella's homewares range from the early 2000s. The buffet is going to become the new counter in the Woodend store while our antique glass counter has gone to Armadale. I'll post photos of the before and after tomorrow. x

Bedroom Inspiration!

I'm currently contemplating redecorating my bedroom so I've been saving a whole lot of pics of bedrooms that take my fancy. This bedroom makeover belongs to Alison from Frou Frou Fashionista and is by far one of my favourites. So gorgeous, pink and girly. Loving her use of Rubie Green fabric and the Jen Ramos'  Made By Girl 'Love' print (which we'll be stocking in the new Armadale store).

Beautiful Bedheads

I was inspired to do this post by the gorgeous picture of SJP and family. What a beautiful family shot and that headboard is stunning. So here are some of my favourite bedheads I had filed away.

Bunny Williams - Interior Designer

Regale Arm Chair by Beeline Home

                                         Twigs Mirror by Beeline Home

Last week I got my hands on a copy of NY interior designer Bunny William's book 'Point of View'. It's a fabulous read, showcasing her very classic American style with eclectic twists. Bunny started out working for the famed interior designer , Sister Parish before going it alone in the 80s and creating a very successful interior design company. She recently launched her homewares range 'Beeline Home by Bunny Williams', a pricey but gorgeous range. Her design concept is creating homes that are timeless but liveable, which I think she achieves with aplomb.

Beautiful Apothecaries

Marie Mason Apothecary - Santa Monica, California

Saipua  - Brooklyn, New York

Melange Apothecary - Sherman Oaks, California

Santa Maria Novella Apothecary - Florence

Penhaligons - London

Saint Charles Apothecary - Vienna

Apoth•e•cary - sells or compounds drugs for medicinal purposes.

Two of my favourite shops in Australia are Kleins Perfumery in Brunswick St, Victoria and Bangalow Pharmacy in Byron St, Bangalow, both of which have an old fashioned apothecary feel. With this in mind my sister suggested I do a post about beautiful apothecaries around the world and she set about sourcing gorgeous apothecary images for me. Here are some of my favourites.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow Part II

Last week I wrote about the rainbow that my Mum painted for my bedroom when I was a little girl. Well, she read the post and searched through all of her old polaroids and found this photo of me admiring my new rainbow at age four circa mid-1970s. I had forgotten all about my red bed and bedspread, which I absolutely loved.

A Home in the Valley

One of my closest friends bought a beautiful home in the Mudgeeraba Valley on the Gold Coast a fews years ago and has been slowly renovating it room by room. She sent me photos of her latest room makeover and I love this little area she has created in her family room. The last time I saw this room the walls were this awful pale green colour that the previous owners had painted the entire house in.

My favourite thing is the canvas which she has covered in fabric she ordered through Anna Spiro's store Black & Spiro. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures as the house progresses.

We all love a pretty vignette. They are the perfect way to showcase your most beautiful and favourite things which otherwise may end up languishing in a draw or cupboard instead.

Oh so Pretty

I love this gorgeous setting by Australian stylist Sibella Court. Sibella is the owner of Society inc. in Sydney and one of the judges on Channel 9's Homemade. Her name has been popping up a lot over the last 12 months, and I imagine we will hear a lot more about her and her beautiful work in time to come.

Carrie Bradshaw's Apartment - Before & After

The Chelsea McClaren print rests on the desk by the front door.

The 'Parfum' print now resides in Carrie's bedroom.

I'm a massive fan of the Sex and the City series, loving pretty much everything Carrie Bradshaw wore, yes, even some of the crazier get-ups. I also have a soft spot for her old apartment. Those of you who have seen the movie will know that to get over her broken heart when Big jilted her at the alter, she redecorated her New York apartment. I'm in two minds about the new decor. There are certain things I love, like the cluster art, the mirrored dresser and the use of the Chelsea McClaren 'Parfum' print on her bedroom wall, that used to rest beside her front door in the old apartment. But I miss that truly eclectic look that was Carrie Bradshaw and New York. It wasn't over styled and seemed to suit the character more so than the new apartment. And what happened to Aiden's chair?

Colour in the Home

As the winter months loom I am finding I am adding more and more colour to my home. Maybe I am trying to subconsciously create a warmer space to live in, knowing that soon it will be very, very cold. I love the colourful rooms above, especially the turquoise floorboards and the open fire place in designer Kathryn Ireland's home. I'm going to keep an eye out for little birdies like the ones above for our tree in the shop.
