A Very Small Kitchen Makeover
A few weeks ago I mentioned I was giving my very 70s brown and green kitchen a lick of paint as I couldn't stand the sight of it anymore. I'm renting so I couldn't go crazy replacing range hoods or knocking through walls, but I think just a coat of white paint makes a huge difference. At least now it is light and airy and matches the rest of the house which is all white. Imagine what you could do if you owned it.

Talitha Getty - Boho Couture
Talitha and Paul Getty on roof top of their Moroccan home
One of the biggest style icons of last century, and one half of an uber glamourous 'It' couple from the 60s, is Talitha Getty. A muse to Yves Saint Laurent and known for mixing couture with boho/hippy chic, Talitha married Paul Getty (heir to the Getty oil fortune) in 1966. From there on in, it was a life of glamour, high fashion and excess. The couple were known for mixing with fashion and celebrity royalty and holding ultra glamourous soirees at their Moroccan home. Talitha died from a heroin overdose in 1971 (so there was a huge downside to all that glamour and excess) but not before influencing fashion trends for many years to come. You can still see her influence in some of todays 'It' girls such as Sienna Miller and Kate Moss and most noticeably, Nicole Richie, a perfect example of how to do 'boho couture' well.

Tickled Pink
I love the pink and white striped curtains
Combining my love of both turquoise and pink!
After all shades of blue, turquoise and aqua, my next favourite colour in decorating is pink. Whether it be a beautiful baby pink or a gorgeous cerise, I love it all.

Time Away
I would like to be going away this weekend to somewhere like The Blackberry Farm in Tennessee. This place looks amazing, the kind of place where you could truly relax. Instead tomorrow we are heading to the school fair and on Sunday we're heading over to Daylesford to the second Maker's Market to catch up with Anissa from Lili Pili. Catching up with Anissa is always fun as we end up coming back with beautiful products from her gorgeous kid's range for the shop. Hopefully we'll have time to go and check out all the vintage bits and pieces at The Mill as well.
Also I really wanted to say thank you to all of our friends and loyal customers who came to our shopping night yesterday. It was a huge success and a lot of fun, with many staying long after closing. I was going to do a post but we got so caught up in the festivities and shopping, we forgot to take photos. We're expanding the shop this month and knocking through a wall to create more space. So we'll be having another shopping night to celebrate the new and improved Enchanted Closet. I'll make sure to get plenty of photos then. Have a great weekend.

I ♥ Stripes
I love the use of stripes in decorating. And although I haven't been game enough to do a striped wall at home, we have used pink stripes on a wall in the shop which looks a lot like the pink tented bathroom. We have also had a lot of striped clothing come into the shop this season, in particular there is this one Viktoria and Woods long cardie in grey/white stripes that I'm lusting after. The best thing about using stripes is you can go crazy or just add one element like Ione Skye's bedroom with the striped rug. I've stuck to striped cushions and throws at home but hopefully I'll get the courage up to do that wall.

Loving Turquoise Again
I've done it before, a post dedicated to turquoise and I'm doing it again. It seems that I am constantly attracted to anything turquoise. I love this colour, it always looks so fresh when mixed with white or black, and great against colours.

Kitchen Ideas
I am renting a beautiful home at the moment that has been renovated apart from the kitchen. My landlords are fantastic and have said whatever I want to do to the house within reason (no knocking down walls) is fine by them. So last weekend with a lot of help from my brother-in-law, I set about painting the old mission brown 70s laminate cupboards a beautiful soft white. The difference is unbelievable. I'm now on the look out for some antique handles and new taps. It will make cooking in there so much more pleasant. When I've finished I will post my before and after shots. In the meantime here are some beautiful kitchens that are inspiring me.

Shelving
I would love built-in shelving throughout my living room and dining/family rooms like the images above. It's a great way to show of all the bits and pieces you have collected over the years plus fantastic for storage. And there is something really cosy and homely about built-in shelving. The bottom photo is of built-in shelving I have in my bathroom at the moment, it's one of my favourite places to show things off and constantly rearrange depending my mood.

A Touch of Colour
Anne Coyle via Elle Decor
I've been wanting a red wooden chair of late and this want was highlighted by Rachael's post over at La maison sur la colline about a splash of red. I have decided I am going to paint an old white chair I have at home and see how it looks. This poor chair has been apple green, aqua, pink and now white. Let's see how it goes in red. In the meantime here are some pieces of coloured furniture that I love.
