A Love of Blue and White

I know I've posted about blue and white before and how much I love it. But I found some new pictures the other day which inspired me all over again.

It's Complicated

I went and saw the new movie It's Complicated over the weekend. Not only was the movie a laugh but the set design was beautiful, especially the home of Meryl Streep's character. This is the work of the team behind that amazing Hamptons beach house in Somethings Gotta Give. They've created an earthy and cosy setting that you just want to move straight into.

Arabella Ramsay's Home: Instyle May 2009

A few doors down from our shop in High St, Armadale is the store of fashion designer, Arabella Ramsay. Arabella is known for her quirky, individual fashion and I can't walk past her shop window without coveting something. Her style is not only evident in her boutique but also in her Melbourne home, which was featured in the May 2009 edition of Instyle. Arabella grew up in the country and retains a strong link to her rural background, citing her mum's love of craft as a huge influence. I love how her home melds many styles together and retains a highly individual look, very much like her fashion.

The Painted Chair

I set about painting an old chair red on the weekend and I love how it turned out. It's added a splash of colour in my dining area. I was inspired by this table I saw at Black and Spiro, Brisbane a few months ago which had been painted a gloss red. Now I'm thinking about getting a bit of a collection together of mismatched different coloured chairs like the pictures above.

The Weekend is Here.....

Well it's Friday and I'm thinking wouldn't it be nice to don a pair of glittery Louboutins and kick up your heels! Hope you all have a weekend full of fun.

A Perfect Day

I think I'm having post holiday blues. It is the most gorgeous day here and I'm stuck inside at work. I so wish I was still on holidays enjoying this weather. Oh well, the weekend is nearly here.

More Makeover Inspiration

Here are some more of my favourite rooms that are currently inspiring my bedroom makeover. The top image is one of my favourite rooms ever and depicts the sort of feel I want to achieve in my bedroom. From the other pictures there are pieces I'd like to incorporate into my room such as the blue geometric print from the Meg Braff room or the gorgeous white wardrobe in the Palmer Weiss room.

Window Dressing

We're in the middle of setting up our Summer window in the Armadale shop. Now that Christmas is over we can pull down the baubles and tinsel and I'm using the images above as inspiration. I'm thinking old tins with pretty summer poseys in them,  hanging from cut branches.

Resolutions.....

Happy New Year to you all. I've decided 2010 is going to be a great year full of good health, wealth and happiness. I've made a few resolutions and they all seem to be based around the home. Number one on my list is to do my bedroom up, and not just half-heartedly but completely. I bought these beautiful blue and white cushions while I was away and they have become the inspiration for my makeover. Here's some blue and white pics that are providing further inspiration, although none of them are an actual bedroom.

Pretty Ballerina

I found this pretty ballerina picture over the weekend at a second-hand shop for not a lot of money. The only problem is I'm a bit stuck on how to frame it. Any ideas?

Also head over to Maiden Luxe to read my top fashion picks for the last decade. I had a lot of fun doing this, thanks for the invite Mia!xx

Room with a View

I finally finished my mini window seat project for my study. This used to be my son's toy box but with a coat of white paint and some colourful cushions, I turned it into a great spot to sit and enjoy the garden view.

Ships Ahoy!

I love this mini cluster art wall my sister in-law has done for my nephew's room. The frames were picked up from op shops and painted a gloss black and she then placed pictures from vintage books and cute fabrics in the frames. But my favourite is the oil painting of the ship which she salvaged from an op shop for $4 and simply painted the frame. Perfect!

Beautiful Blooms

I got my first bunch of hydrangeas from my plant which I have been nuturing from a baby for the last 18 months. They have pride of place in my lounge room and look gorgeous. These blooms are my all time favourite flower, they remind me of my Nan's garden when we were kids. Here are some of my favourite images where hydrangeas feature.
