Have a lovely long weekend.......

Possibly a little hard to drink your hot chocolate out of, but oh so pretty!

My own hot chocolate I enjoyed last night...

I love hot chocolate once the weather turns and over the last couple of days there has definitely been an autumn chill in the air. So this weekend I'll be sitting back with a good book and a hot chocolate. And hot chocolate is even better when sipped from a beautiful tea cup like the ones above. Hope you all have a relaxing weekend.

Parental Guidance

I loved this feature in Domino Magazine about mum and daughter decorating, and whether or not they have similar decorating taste. In some you can see a lot of similarities and influences, and in others they are so different. I know with my sister and I there are some similar tastes we share with our mum, but then all of us can be so different in the looks we choose. Also how beautiful is that aqua bookcase and the aqua foyer door. Love them!

Perfect Poseys

It's a gloomy and chilly day here in Woodend and what better way to cheer myself up than to look through my photo files of beautiful flowers. Here are some of my favourites. As you can probably tell, I love colour.

Cluster Art

Our own cluster art in the shop - made from vintage Golden Books

                     Alannah Hill's cluster art

Suzanne Kalser designs via Habitually Chic

I was checking out the blog Please Sir this morning and came across these great images of clustered art. I have a very blank wall at home that needs help and I've been thinking of doing something along the lines of this. It reminded me of a tear sheet I have in my file of Alannah Hill's home and her wall of vintage paintings. We did something a little similar in the shop with vintage Golden Books.

Little Jane Street

We love Alarna's creations over at Little Jane Street, so much so, that we have decided to stock her creative cards at the Enchanted Closet. The first order should be arriving next week so keep an eye out. Here's a few of her lovely designs.

Les Filles a la Violette

I spotted this very pretty French boutique on Madebygirl. It reminded me a lot of the Enchanted Closet.

Lady Melbourne

Yesterday we were very lucky to have a visit from the ever glamorous vintage style queen, Lady Melbourne. Her effortless ladylike style and charm is an inspiration to all.  We are avid readers of her blog and were delighted to see a post this morning about her visit to our shop.  Thank you, we would love to have another visit from you soon!

Country Style

When we first talked about opening a shop in the country, one of our goals was getting a mention in Country Style. The March 2009 Country Style arrived on my doorstep this week and I was a bit excited to open up to the Enterprise section and see our shop featured. We would like to say a big thank you to Country Style, but most importantly to freelance journalist Kathy Mexted for writing the article. Thanks Kathy, we hugely appreciate the great job you have done!

Susannah Tucker Photography

Susannah Tucker is a Melbourne based photographer. Being self taught, Susannah's images tend to capture emotions rather than technical aspects and I love how her photos evoke memories of childhood, long summer days at the beach, racing through grassy paddocks and climbing trees. You can purchase Susannah's prints and photo blocks at her Etsy Shop.

Oscar Night

As the red carpet got underway for the 81st Academy Awards last night it was looking like a sea of neutrals, gold and silver. Marissa Tomei looked beautiful in Versace, as did Anne Hathaway in Armani. Other hits in shimmery neutrals were Jennifer Aniston in Valentino and Sarah Jessica in Dior. Kate Winslet looked lovely, but oh so safe in Yves Saint Laurent . And I thought Marion Cotillard looked divine in Dior.  Jewellery was a sparse affair, there wasn't the usual bling associated with the Oscars - a reflection of the tough economical times. I didn't love Amy Ryan's dress, but her necklace was stunning. But for me the standout in styling was Angelina Jolie. Her Elie Saab gown could have been a really boring affair, but the addition of the those emerald earrings and cocktail ring took the outfit somewhere special.
